Project Problem Details
In the context of Nepal the population under blindness is growing day by day. And the awareness programme is sufficient to prevent such type of problem between the guardian as well as relative, community, society as well as whole nation. According to the survey by the World Health Organization, there are now 10 million people in the world without sight. In the context of Nepal, According to the information received from the Eye Foundation, about 100000 people are completely blind, and every day 1 blind children is added. So Blind Parent Association Nepal contributes to uplift the life status of children with blind by organizing various educational programme as well as vocational training to the blind children. The visually impaired is not limited to any race, gender, community or regions. Various disease cause blindness like varicose veins, head injuries, eye infection or injuries, heredity disorders, vitamin A deficiency, malnutrition, leprosy, cataracts, glaucoma, rash, severe fever, tumor etc. So to prevent these disease awareness programme is necessary. In the present scenario the condition of blind in the Bhaktapur area is so pathetic. Maximum blind children were treated as disadvantage group and they were deprived of education too. So to uplift their educational status it is important to organize door to door education system so they can rebuild their educational status as well as develop their self-esteem. Majority of disability were deprived of education and their family also not aware about their education too. To upgrade their socio-economic as well as educational status education plays vital role and is too important.
Project Solution Details
This project aims to improve the capacity of visually impaired children through technical support and skill development training. In the tenure of the project, Blind Parents Association will also support for the rights, welfare and upliftment of the visually impaired children and their parents. In order to advocate the rights, welfare and upliftment of the visually impaired person in Nepal, to create the environment necessary for their inherent ability and talent to emerge and to contribute to the dignity of the visually impaired children through socio-economic empowerment. To achieve the project plan it is necessary to organized ICT (Information and Communications Technology) program. To achieve our goal to support visually impaired children, we need to organize radio program to aware and motivate blind people and to flow message that persons with visible problems can and do work and work in the office, just like any other person with the help of braille script or information technology.
The project is designed for the skill development and giving technology knowledge training for the blind children. This project basically focus on the skill development of the blind children through different skill development training and uplifting their socio-economic status through various income generating skill development training program. This project also focus on training workshop on information communication and technology for high school level blind children. (ICT) by visually-impaired persons (About 50 children in number) This project also focus on sensitization workshop program for the blind children and their parents or guardians.
Result Output Details
Through empowering visually-impaired persons with technology and skill development it will strengthen the capacity of blind children and assist them to establish their autonomous identity in the society. This project also have a very important role and contribution in making visually impaired children eligible, efficient and a responsible citizen of the society. Therefore, while paying attention to the rights, welfare and upliftment of the visually impaired children, it is important to economic social empowerment of the visually impaired children. So this project assists to uplift the socio-economic status of the visually impaired children. Just because a visually impaired person is physically disable does not mean that she/he is powerless in all sector. Through this project it will contribute to equal education opportunity to the visually impaired people and improve their life status.
